The Captain

Originally from WV, Capt. Josiah Wise moved to the Crystal Coast at 19 during his time in the Marine Corps, where he fell in love with the coast and what it has to offer. After putting in the required time to obtain a Captain's License, he pursued his passion of the outdoors and eventually came to run Swamp Poodle Sportfishing & Waterfowl. His goal is to create a family friendly atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.

Fleet

The Boats

Both of our boats are meticulously taken care of to ensure that they can get you there and back safely. We carry above and beyond what is required by the state and the coast guard so that you have no need to worry about "what if's".

Boykin

"Boykin" is the do-it-all workhorse of our fleet, a 24ft Kencraft Skiff. This is the boat that operates all of our duck hunts, but is also well equipped for fishing. On calm days this boat can comfortably operate half day or 3/4 day charters, going up to 30 miles offshore in search of the fish. This skiff offers a very stable platform for those who may be less comfortable aboard, and can be requested for use on fishing charters.

Swamp Poodle

New for 2026 we have added a brand new Bull's Bay 230 to the lineup! This vessel will allow us to make long runs faster and more reliably, and is fully equipped for any type of fishing the ocean offers.  A large cockpit and steep deadrise make it perfect for trolling and the 360 degree fishability is helpful while bottom fishing.

Our Mission

We want to ensure that every party who fishes or hunts with us has a memorable time and that they are able to get the experience they want and deserve. Whether that's a relaxed day fishing with children and exposing them to the outdoors, or a hardcore day on the water chasing limits.

Our crew is here to serve you. Feel free to ask questions about anything we're doing or let us know if you have a specific species you want to target. If you prefer to relax until it's time to fight the fish you are more than welcome to do so; if you prefer to be in the action helping us set and clear lines or deploying decoys that is also encouraged! At the end of the day we want you to leave feeling satisified and eager for your next salt water adventure.
